电熔莫来石是一种人工合成的电熔制品，结晶体为针状，它具有热震稳定性好，抗折强度大，荷重软化温度高，硬度大，高温蠕变小等特点。熔制莫来石时，应使炉内的气氛保持还原状态。
电熔莫来石广泛用于低蠕变热风炉砖，铁水包及鱼罐砖,高温工业窑炉砖,玻璃衬砖及高温匣钵、棚板等耐火制品。
电熔莫来石性能与烧结莫来石相比，电熔高纯莫来石的高温力学性能和抗侵蚀性要好。高纯的莫来石块呈浅灰色，普通的莫来石块呈深色或黑色，这是由于除熔块中存在金属硅和少量的铁外，少量的SiO2因熔块快速冷却，表面快速凝固而被封闭于熔块中，是熔块着色。在1480℃以上高温烧成，高纯的莫来石呈白色，普通的莫来石呈浅黄色。
Fused Mullite is a kind of artificially produced fused product with acicular crystals, which has good thermal resistance, strong modulus of rupture, high refractoriness , high hardness, and good high-temperature creep-resistance.
Fused Mullite is widely used in manufacturing many refractory products, like the low creep-rupture bricks for the hot-air stove, melting-iron groove or torpedo car, high-temperature industrial kiln, glass melting fuace, as well as in producing high-temperature saggers or shed planks, etc.
